Bihar Politics: Nitish Kumar Announces Plan to Join Rajya Sabha, Sparks Bihar Power Shift

In a major political development, Nitish Kumar has officially confirmed through a social media post that he intends to become a member of the Rajya Sabha. Ending days of speculation in Bihar politics, the veteran leader stated that he wishes to contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha election and fulfill a long-standing personal aspiration of serving in both Houses of Parliament. In his message, Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar for supporting him for more than two decades and said their trust enabled him to work for the state’s development and dignity. He also wrote that from the beginning of his parliamentary journey, he had a desire to be a member of both the state legislature and both chambers of Parliament. The announcement has triggered intense political discussion across Bihar, as it could pave the way for a leadership change in the state government. Political observers say the development may allow the Bharatiya Janata Party, a key partner in the ruling National Democratic Alliance, to potentially appoint its own chief minister in Bihar for the first time. Nitish Kumar assured that his connection with the people of Bihar will remain strong and that he will continue to guide and support the next government in the state.
