The Gopal Khemka murder case has intensified political and public scrutiny in Bihar, especially following the death of accused Vikas alias Raja in a late-night encounter with the STF. Raja, said to be an illegal arms supplier, allegedly provided the weapon used in Khemka's murder. He was hiding in an abandoned brick kiln near Patna City’s Mal Salami area and opened fire on the police when they arrived, leading to his death in retaliatory firing around 3–4 AM.The investigation has so far led to multiple detentions, including the arrest of suspected shooter Umesh Yadav. Crucially, Umesh’s interrogation provided key inputs that led police to Raja’s hideout.
