A disturbing case has emerged from Ayodhya involving the repeated rape of a 12-year-old girl, which has ignited widespread outrage. The heinous crime, involving the creation of explicit videos and multiple assaults, came to light only when the victim, who had been terrorized and threatened with the release of the footage, became pregnant. One of the accused, Moid Khan, is notably a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and the city president of Bhadasra. This influential connection intimidated the victim, causing delays in reporting the crime. When the victim’s family did approach the police, they were dismayed to find that the authorities were biased in favor of Moid Khan, suggesting that they only pursue charges against the other accused, Raju. The victim’s family faced numerous challenges in their pursuit of justice until the Nishad Party and Hindu organizations intervened, organizing protests and pressuring the police to act. This led to the arrest of both accused individuals. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the incident and criticized the SP for its inaction, highlighting the need for accountability. Faizabad (Ayodhya) MP Awadhesh Prasad called for a thorough investigation and severe legal consequences for those responsible, expressing frustration with the BJP’s alleged politicization of the issue. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also weighed in, advocating for DNA testing to ensure justice while cautioning that false accusations should also be addressed, holding involved officials accountable if necessary.
