Army Chief Bipin Rawat retires today, appointed as new CDS

Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat will retire today after serving three years as Chief Of Army Staff. He will now assume charge as India's first Chief Of Defence Staff. General Rawat paid tribute to martyrs at the National War Memorial. As the first CDS, Gen Rawat will be responsible as the overall coordinator and, in consultation with the three chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, he will be the noddle officer for the formation of policies.
