Karnataka Results: Congress-JDS agree on Kumaraswamy as CM, BJP falls short of majority
The Congress this afternoon said it had offered its backing to the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to form a government in Karnataka following a hung Assembly. Both parties have reportedly agreed on Kumaraswamy as next chief minister. The JDS leader has arrived at his father Deve Gowda's residence to take a final call.
As per the latest trends, the BJP is leading in 104 seats but falling short of majority, while the Congress is ahead in 76 seats. The Janata Dal (Secular), which is emerging as the kingmaker, is leading in 40 seats. Other parties have got two seats.
