The Congress party which is plunged into a deep political crisis in Karnataka, faced another jolt on Wednesday as a similar situation cropped up in the state of Goa, where ten out of 15 MLAs including the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar, joined the ruling BJP.
After the merger of the 10 MLAs the saffron party’s strength in the Goa Assembly increased to 27 in the 40-seat house, reducing Congress which had emerged as single-largest party after 2017 Assembly polls, to just 5 legislators.
