Delhi Election 2025: Delhi CM Atishi Resigns, Hands Over Resignation to LG Amid AAP's Setback in Elections

Delhi's Chief Minister, Atishi, has officially submitted her resignation to Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena. Just moments ago, Atishi arrived at the LG Secretariat and handed over her resignation. After submitting the resignation, she left without speaking to the media and went straight to her car. Atishi had been facing tough times as her party, AAP, suffered a significant loss, securing only 22 seats in the election. Several prominent party leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, lost their seats, marking a major setback for AAP in Delhi. Despite this, Atishi managed to retain her seat in Kalkaji and is expected to play a key role in rebuilding the party. Her immediate task will be strengthening AAP's organizational structure, which has suffered significant damage. Currently, she will serve as the caretaker Chief Minister until a new BJP Chief Minister takes the oath. Meanwhile, Arvind Singh Lovely, a BJP candidate who won from Gandhinagar, has also visited the LG's office, though the reason for his visit remains unclear. The political situation in Delhi is at a critical juncture, and it will be crucial for AAP to address its internal challenges and rebuild its foundation in the coming years.
