A 42-year-old Bengaluru-based businessman was allegedly duped of Rs 5 lakh after he downloaded a fake wedding invitation received on WhatsApp. The incident reportedly took place on April 16 between 4:45 am and 4:54 am through a wedding invite, which appeared to be a trap laid by the scamsters. The victim, Noor Nahid Khan, has since filed a police complaint, and an investigation is currently underway.

What WhatsApp Message Said

The wedding invite, which he received on his WhatsApp, read: “We’re happy to invite you to our wedding. Kindly download the attached invitation for complete details of the ceremony. Your presence and blessings will make our special day truly memorable,” along with heart emojis.

It further added, “We look forward to celebrating this beautiful moment with you,” followed by a bouquet and sparkle emojis.

Without giving it much thought, Khan downloaded the attachment, and what happened next was something he could never have imagined, even in his wildest dreams. The attached file turned out to be malicious, giving an unknown sender access to his device.

According to a report filed by NDTV, the attachment was an APK file. An APK (Android Package Kit) is a file format used to install applications on Android devices. It can also be used to install malicious software.

Following this, the fraudster allegedly gained access to the victim’s phone and siphoned off Rs 5,00,440 through multiple UPI transactions, NDTV reported.

Police File FIR

Based on the complaint, authorities have registered a case of cheating and identity theft against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police said the APK file helped scammers download an app outside the official Google Play Store without the user’s knowledge, and provided them access to sensitive permissions such as camera, banking apps, and payment services like Google Pay.

Investigators believe the same malicious message and APK file may have been widely circulated as part of a larger cyber fraud network targeting multiple users.

The video shows a complete ATM-style setup, including a glass entrance door and an SBI signboard outside the shop. However, instead of customers withdrawing cash, people are seen getting haircuts and beard trims inside.

According to reports circulating online, the location earlier housed a State Bank of India ATM. After the ATM was shut down, parts of the setup, including the signage and entrance structure, were left unchanged. The vacant space was later rented out and converted into a salon.

Video Goes Viral

As a result, some people reportedly mistake the place for a functioning ATM and walk in expecting to withdraw money, only to discover a barber shop operating inside.

The video is now being widely shared on social media, with many users calling it another “unique Bihar moment.” Sharing the clip on X, a user named Dinesh wrote, “This can happen only in Bihar… An ATM in Patna’s Danapur is now running as a salon. The SBI board is still outside, but there’s no cash machine inside.”

Vembu further argued that a fresh election could provide clarity on the real public mandate. He expressed the view that TVK could potentially return with a “super majority”, while suggesting that the BJP should contest independently, even if it results in “zero seats”, describing it as an opportunity for a “fresh start” for the party in Tamil Nadu.

Content creator and cricketer Lakhan Arjun Rawat has alleged that his cook was caught “spitting” while preparing food meant for the family. The matter came to light after family members reportedly fell ill over the past few days. This led them to review CCTV footage.

According to the family, the footage shows the cook spitting into the sink while working in the kitchen. They claim the droplets could have contaminated the food being prepared. A video of the family confronting the cook and CCTV footage of him spitting in the sink have since gone viral on social media.

The video then shows the family confronting the cook, whose face has been blurred. Neetu claims that the man frequently spat while cooking.

Rawat’s mother can be heard asking, “How much of that spit must have fallen on the rotis and vegetables we ate?”

Neetu also said that she had asked the cook to wear a mask while preparing food because he consumed gutkha. However, she alleged that the mask was often kept below his mouth while he cooked for the family.

Family Raises Health Concerns

Rawat’s mother also expressed concern about the family’s recent health issues, saying several members had been unwell with fever and other symptoms.

“And we have all been falling sick repeatedly. We are not recovering at all. There’s fever and everyone’s health is not improving.”

She alleged that the cook may have been preparing food in unhygienic conditions for days. She continued, “So for how many days has he been feeding us this unhygienic food? He has been spitting into the utensils.”

The family also questioned him about his practices at home, asking where he usually spits in his home.

In the video, Rawat’s mother further said that the family offers food to God before eating it and accused the cook of disrespecting that ritual.

Earlier, Chandrika Dixit appeared on a podcast hosted by Siddharth Kannan along with a man identified as Saifi. During the conversation, she claimed that she once received an offer of Rs 50 lakh from a businessman in exchange for spending time with him.

According to Dixit, the offer was made through an email.

“I can show the screenshot. He said the place would be his resort, but the terms would be mine. He offered ₹50 lakh and asked me to decide the rest,” she alleged.

She further claimed that she had received similar proposals from some directors and producers as well, and was once invited to travel to Dubai.

Allegations Against Yugam Gera

On the same podcast, Dixit also spoke about her troubled relationship with her husband, alleging that he had admitted to being involved with two other women.

She said that Yugam himself had told her about these relationships.

“He was my love. I won’t say he was my love… I was the first girl in his life. I was the one who held his hand, the one who sat behind him on his bike. I was the person he shared everything with. But now, suddenly, he is sharing those things with someone else,” she said.
