Rana Sanga Row: Stone Pelting At SP MP Ramji Lal Suman's Residence, Vehicles Vandalised — Video

In Agra, the residence of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman was attacked. The incident follows Suman's controversial remarks about Rajput warrior Rana Sanga being a traitor and Hindus his descendants.

In Uttar Pradesh's Agra, the residence of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman was attacked with stone pelting on Wednesday, resulting in broken window panes and damage to vehicles parked outside. More details are awaited regarding the incident.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, the glass panes of several vehicles outside the residence can be seen broken. Also, several chairs at his residence could also be seen broken. Several other police officials can also be seen beating an individual.

The recent remarks come days after SP Rajya Sabha MP Ramjilal Suman on March 21 called Rajput warrior Rana Sanga a traitor and Hindus his descendants. Attacking the BJP, Suman argued that "if Muslims are called the descendants of Babur, then Hindus must be descendants of traitor Rana Sanga."

Suman, during his speech in the Parliament, had said that Indian Muslims do not consider Babur as their idol and they follow Prophet Muhammad and the Sufi tradition. But I want to ask, who brought Babur here? he asked. It was Rana Sanga who invited Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi, Suman further said.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav defended him on Sunday, saying, “Everyone is flipping through the pages of history. Ask BJP leaders which pages they are turning. What are they debating? They want to talk about Aurangzeb. If Ramji Lal Suman ji has referred to a page in history that contains certain facts, then what’s the issue? We didn’t write history 200 years ago.”

Suman is one among the long-serving national secretaries who was nominated to the Rajya Sabha last year. He has been a key figure in the party's attempt to pivot beyond its core voter base and has also been one of the most trusted leaders of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Dimple Yadav Reacts To Vandalisation Incident

Responding to the vandalisation, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav called the incident unfortunate.

"We don't know much about it. However, if something like that is happening to an MP, then it is very unfortunate. What message is being conveyed by this? What will the younger generation learn from this? Government should take strict action against this," Dimple Yadav said as quoted by ANI.
