Patna, Aug 7 (PTI) The RJD has dissolved all its organisational units in Bihar, including district, block and panchayat committees, as well as various cell units, an official statement said.

The statement was issued by RJD's state president, Mangani Lal Mandal, late on Thursday evening.

The decision assumes significance in view of the party's defeat in the recently concluded Bankipur bypoll. RJD's candidate, Rekha Gupta, forfeited her deposit in the by-election.

"All organisational units of the RJD (Bihar) at every level -- including organisational units at the district level, block level and panchayat level, as well as organisational units associated with all cells and other affiliated organisational bodies -- stand dissolved with immediate effect," the statement said.

The process of reconstituting the organisational committees at all levels across the state shall commence at the earliest, it said.

Aban and his friend Sonu were killed in the crash, while three other occupants sustained injuries. Police said there were no CCTV cameras near the accident site as it is located in a rural area.

Residents from nearby shops were the first to respond after the crash. They alerted the police and helped shift the injured to a hospital.

"When the accident took place, residents informed the police and helped shift the injured to the hospital," the senior police officer said.

According to official records, the SUV was registered in the name of Mohammad Zaid. Zaid, Mohammad Umar and Farukh were among those injured in the accident.

SUV Had Multiple Traffic Violations

Police records show that the Hyundai Creta had previously been issued several challans for overspeeding.

The vehicle had also been fined for violating parking rules and for being driven without a valid driving licence.

Mohammad Umar, one of the injured occupants, told police that the SUV suddenly went out of control before crashing into the divider.

"The car lost balance and crashed. After that, I don't remember what happened. When I regained consciousness, I found myself lying on the road," Umar said.

Noida, Aug 5 (PTI) A 40-year-old director in the Lok Sabha Secretariat allegedly committed suicide at his flat in a housing society in Noida, with police recovering a purported suicide note by him which mentioned a loan, officials said on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Gaurav Gautam, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his flat in Kendriya Vihar-II Society in Sector 82 on Sunday, police said.

According to the Phase-2 police station, information about the incident was received through a memo from a hospital after Gautam was taken there for treatment. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police said Gautam's wife had gone to her parental home. Upon returning home, she found the flat locked and, suspecting something was amiss, entered the house with the help of a security guard.

She found her husband hanging and rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said.

A forensic team and the local police inspected the spot and collected evidence. Inquest proceedings were completed and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Police said a suicide note recovered from the flat referred to a loan. The contents of the note are being examined as part of the investigation.

Further legal proceedings are underway, police added.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that a day after violence erupted during the Ram Navami procession in Khargone in April 2022, the district administration carried out a demolition drive using bulldozers, razing 16 houses and 29 shops across five Muslim-majority areas of the city.

The organisation had sought to perform religious rituals at the protected site on the first Monday of the holy month of Shrawan.

According to police, 11 women associated with the organisation were carrying kanwars -- devotees of Lord Shiva -- towards the Taj Mahal when they were intercepted en route.

They were later escorted to the Rajeshwar Temple, where they offered holy water and performed jalabhishek or ceremonial bathing of the Shivling.

A police officer said the authorities had prior information that the group was heading towards the Taj Mahal from the western gate to perform religious rituals.

"They were stopped on the way and were taken to the Rajeshwar Temple, where they performed jalabhishek," the officer said.

Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha district president Meera Rathore alleged that the Taj Mahal was originally a Shiva temple.

"If qawwali programmes can be held at the Taj Mahal, we should also be allowed to offer prayers there. We have been stopped this time, but there are more Mondays in Shrawan. We will again carry kanwars and perform worship," she said.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer allegedly shot dead two of his colleagues, injured another and then died by suicide at a battalion camp in Assam's Nagaon district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at around 7 am at the CRPF's 34 Battalion camp in Katimari, Nagaon, according to officials.

Police identified the accused as Assistant Sub-Inspector (GD) Ballani Premabaram, who was on duty at the camp's main gate when the firing took place.

The circumstances that led to the firing were not immediately known.

Head Constable (GD) Vishnu Prasad Baghel and Sub-Inspector (GD) Ramnawal Singh Yadav died in the firing, police said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (Mane) Govind Sripul sustained injuries in the incident and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
