9-Year-Old Raped And Murdered
In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves through the national capital, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and brutally murdered in North-East Delhi’s Nehru Vihar area. Her body was later discovered stuffed inside a suitcase in a locked, neighboring house, sparking widespread public outrage and a massive police manhunt for the absconding accused.
The minor had been missing for three to four hours before her horrific discovery. Panic gripped the neighborhood when she couldn't be located, with one child reportedly seeing the victim heading towards a nearby flat. Upon breaking open the lock of a suspicious, locked house, residents made the grim finding: the girl’s semi-naked body inside a suitcase, her lower half undressed, pointing to a sexual assault.
According to her father, who discovered her, the 9-year-old had gone out to deliver ice. The family alleges local boys are responsible. Eyewitnesses revealed the girl called the suspect "mamu," suggesting a level of trust. Some residents also implicated individuals known for selling biryani in the neighborhood. Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and are actively searching for the accused. The incident has drawn sharp criticism, with former Delhi CM Atishi questioning the deteriorating law and order and the safety of girls in the city.
