Bomb Threats Trigger Panic At 3 Delhi Schools, Prompt Emergency Response

Delhi schools on high alert after three institutions receive bomb threats via email. Swift police action finds nothing suspicious. SOP for school safety under fresh spotlight.

Panic gripped parts of the national capital on Monday morning after at least three schools received bomb threats, sparking a swift and coordinated emergency response from authorities.

According to Delhi Police officials, the first alert came around 8 am when multiple PCR calls reported threats sent to the CRPF Schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16, along with another school in the upscale Chanakyapuri area.

Multiple Schools Receive Threatening Emails Early Morning

“Police teams immediately moved in to check the school premises,” said a senior police officer, confirming the receipt of multiple alerts in a short span of time.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh shared further details, stating, “Early Monday, Dwarka North police station received a PCR call about a bomb threat at the CRPF School here. The school grounds were immediately sanitised. Local law enforcement, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dog teams were deployed for a thorough check.”

Swift Action by Police, Bomb Squads, and Cyber Experts

While no explosives or suspicious items were found during the initial sweep, police said the investigation was still underway. Cybercrime experts have been roped in to trace the origin of the threatening email.

“The threat was sent via email to two schools—one in Chanakyapuri and the other in Dwarka,” officials confirmed. “So far, no suspicious objects have been found at either location.”

In all three instances, security has been tightened, and school officials were advised to remain vigilant.

Delhi’s 115-Point SOP for School Bomb Threats: A Reminder of Protocols

This isn’t the first time schools in Delhi have faced such threats. In May, following directions from the Delhi High Court, the Directorate of Education (DoE) rolled out a detailed 115-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to deal with bomb threats in schools.

The SOP—designed in collaboration with both national and local security agencies—applies to all government, aided, minority, and recognised unaided private schools.

It outlines a four-phase approach: prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Schools are expected to carry out regular mock drills, install surveillance systems, and implement strict access control measures. In the event of a threat, heads of schools are instructed to coordinate emergency responses in partnership with the police and disaster management teams.

“All threats must be treated as real,” the SOP states, urging immediate notification to authorities without creating unnecessary panic.

Parents Raise Concerns Over Implementation Gaps

While several private institutions claim to be following these protocols, some parents remain unconvinced. Many have pointed to lingering gaps in security infrastructure and called for greater transparency and accountability in tracking the SOP’s implementation.

"Counselling must be offered to students and staff post-incident," the SOP also advises, underscoring the emotional toll such threats can take—even if they turn out to be hoaxes.
