Spain Beat France In A 9-Goal Thriller, Advance To UEFA Nations League 2025 Final

Spain ousted France in a 9-goal thriller in Stuttgart to advance to the UEFA Nations League 2025 Final. Read below for details.

Reigning European champions Spain outclass France 5-4 in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League 2025 to advance to the Final, set to be played on June 9 against Portugal.

Lamine Yamal continues to boost his Ballon d'Or chances, as the 17-year-old wonderkid scored a crucial brace, which now potentially puts him in the pole position against the likes of Raphina and Ousmane Dembele.

Spain opened the proceedings with two early goals from Nico Williams and Mikel Merino inside the space of 2 minutes (23rd and 25th minute) to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Lamine Yamal converted from the spot kick to make it 3-0, before Pedri scored within 60 seconds to put France four goals behind in the match.

Kylian Mbappe started an improbable comeback with a goal from the spot, before Lamine Yamal restored four-goal lead with a brilliant goal.

A franctic exchange of passes and some brilliant individual moments saw France score 3 late goals but that was not enough, as Spain prevailed with a one-goal lead at full-time whistle.

"When two great teams like this play, you sometimes see a lot of goals. They will make you suffer until the end but we went to the final despite the mistakes we made. We were aware of what we wanted to do. We wanted to make history. The greatest thing when you are winning is to keep winning," said Lamine Yamal, who was awarded the Player of the Match.

Another Barcelona starlet shone in Spain's win, as Pedri was influencial in his side' build-up gameplay.

Here's what he said after the match:

"The most important thing is winning and reaching the next match, the final. But of course, conceding those goals means we need to improve, to control the match better in the final minutes and not suffer so much."

Luis De La Fuente's First Words After Dramatic Win Vs France

"I'm happy. I enjoy suffering! I don't understand sport without suffering. When two great teams face off like today, it's normal every team makes the most of their moments. We need to learn from every game and see the game in a positive light."
