LSG sv CSK: Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, defeated the Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 8 wickets in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 22 (Tuesday). Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul played crucial roles for Delhi with fifties, supported by a cameo from captain Axar Patel, while Mukesh Kumar excelled with the ball, taking a four-fer, with Mitchell Starc also contributing. The win saw Delhi Capitals secure their sixth victory in eight matches this season, while LSG suffered their fourth defeat, leaving them with five wins from nine games.

The day belonged to Rahul, who was absent during DC's thrilling win over LSG in their opening match in Vizag. Against his former team and on a ground that holds a special place in his career, the opener looked in sublime touch, playing a mature knock to anchor the chase. He was joined by Porel, who also scored a vital half-century and then later by Axar Patel, with the pair guiding DC to victory with minimal trouble. Notably, it was KL Rahul finished the game with a six against his former franchise Lucknow Super Giants, until last season. While he remained not out in the chase

Earlier, LSG's batting woes continued as they were restricted to just 153/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a solid start provided by Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, LSG only managed 84 runs in the final 12 overs, a period during which they lost wickets at regular intervals. DC's bowlers, led by Mukesh Kumar, kept things tight, with contributions from Mitchell Starc adding to the pressure.
