Big Money, Low Returns: Rohit, Pant & 3 Others Flop So Far In IPL 2025

Check below IPL 2025's four most expensive players yet to fire in the tournament.

Rishabh Pant made history as the most expensive player in IPL history when Lucknow Super Giants secured him for Rs 27 crore in last year's mega auction.

However, the 27-year-old LSG captain has struggled to justify his price tag, scoring just 17 runs across three IPL 2025 matches with innings of 0, 15, and 2. Besides Pant, four other players, each valued at over Rs 12 crore, have also failed to deliver in IPL 2025.

Rohit Sharma: Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, bought for Rs 16.30 crore, has also failed to live up to expectations. His scores in the first three matches read 0, 8, and 13, totaling just 21 runs. The 37-year-old has been unable to provide the kind of performances MI fans have come to expect.

Venkatesh Iyer: Kolkata Knight Riders invested Rs 23.75 crore in Venkatesh Iyer, but the all-rounder has failed to impress. He managed just 6 runs against RCB in the first match, did not bat in the second, and was dismissed for 3 runs against Mumbai Indians. With only 9 runs in two innings across three matches, he has been a major disappointment.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Rajasthan Royals retained Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rs 18 crore, expecting him to shine at the top. However, the 23-year-old has had an underwhelming start, scoring just 1 run against Sunrisers Hyderabad, followed by 29 against KKR, and 4 against Mumbai Indians. With just 34 runs in three matches, Jaiswal has struggled to make an impact.

Rinku Singh: Batting sensation Rinku Singh, who became a sensation after smashing five sixes in an over during the 2023 season of IPL, was retained by KKR for Rs 13 crore. However, he has not found his rhythm this season. He managed just 12 runs against RCB, did not get to bat against Rajasthan Royals, and scored 17 against Mumbai Indians. With 29 runs in two innings, Rinku has yet to make a strong impact in IPL 2025.
