The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings is all set to commence in a few hours time at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ahead of what will be a crucial game and would well turn out to be the difference in the end, MI could be in a bit of a trouble as a report suggest that the five-time champions could miss the services of their pacer Jofra Archer with an elbow injury.
Even though there has not been any official confirmation from the team, the same has been claimed by ex-CSK star Subramaniam Badrinath. He shared the update in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel. Notably, Badrinath was present at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday and said that Archer had sustained the injury during a practice session on the eve of the match.
If Badrinath's claims turn out to be true then this would certainly not be a welcome news for MI who are already without the services of Jasprit Bumrah for the entire season. The Blue and Gold Brigade's bowling was taken to the cleaners against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and their experienced pacer in Archer also missing out, it could turn out to be too big a hole to fill for any other player.
Meanwhile, a separate report has claimed the CSK all-rounder Ben Stokes could also miss the match against MI after complaining of heel pain post the practice session on Friday. A report carried by Indian Express has claimed that Stokes has been advises a rest of 10 days but a final call would be taken on Saturday. It also claims that Stokes is unlikely to play this match as a precautionary measure because it could aggravate his injury.
While CSK have a win and a defeat against their name in two matches so far, MI have played just one match so far which they lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
