New Delhi: With full capacity crowds now allowed inside stadiums for the entire India vs New Zealand Test series, the intense action was well matched by the carnival atmosphere inside Kanpur's Green Park stadium on Thursday.

Meanwhile, fans at home watching all the live action on their TV sets had fun while watching a man, who was caught on camera chewing 'gutkha' in the stands while using his phone during Ind vs NZ 1st Test.

The hilarious incident was caught on camera after completion of 70 overs. Reacting to the viral video, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer shared a meme on Twitter.

Talking about the series opener, an unbeaten 113-run partnership for fifth wicket between Shreyas Iyer (75*) and Ravindra Jadeja (50*) swung the momentum in team India's favour on Day 1 of the India vs New Zealand 1st Test as bad light forced the umpires to call for early stumps at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium on Thursday. At Stumps, India reached 258/4.

For Black Caps, speedster Kyle Jamieson was the pick of bowlers as he bagged three wickets for 47 runs. The Indian team looked in trouble after losing four wickets for 146 runs. Shreyas Iyer then saved the day for his team along with Ravindra Jadeja by bringing up a solid 113-run partnership.

At the end of Day's play, Iyer (75* off 136 balls) and Jadeja (50* runs off 100 balls) remained unbeaten and will aim to extend India's lead on Day 2.
