India Grants Pakistan Permission To Compete In These Two Tournaments: Report
The green signal from both the Home Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs will allow Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup and the Junior Hockey World Cup.

In a significant development for sports diplomacy, Pakistan’s national hockey team has been granted official clearance to participate in tournaments hosted in India.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Rajgir, Bihar, starting August 27, with the final to be played on September 7. In addition, Pakistan will be allowed to send its team for the Junior Hockey World Cup, which is set to be held in November and December.
Pakistan to compete in India
The green signal from both the Home Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs will allow Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup and the Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held later this year.
This approval comes in the backdrop of strained relations between the two countries following the recent terrorist attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which had cast uncertainty over sporting exchanges between India and Pakistan.
"We are not against any team competing in India in a multi-national competition. If we try to stop Pakistan, it would be seen as a violation of the Olympic Charter. But bilateral is different, and there will be no relaxation on that front," the ministry source told India Today.
According to a senior official in the Sports Ministry, there is no objection to teams from any country participating in international events held in India. However, the official clarified that this does not apply to bilateral sporting events, which remain a separate and more sensitive issue.
Could This Lead to an India-Pakistan Cricket Clash?
While this clearance currently applies to hockey, the move has sparked speculation about a possible India vs Pakistan face-off in the upcoming Asia Cup cricket tournament.
Though cricketing ties have largely been limited to ICC and ACC tournaments in recent years, officials from Hockey India have reiterated their stance that any decision on international participation will strictly follow government directives.
This recent approval has revived hope among sports fans that a potential India-Pakistan clash may be on the cards in both hockey and cricket, reigniting one of the most intense rivalries in world sports.
