Kiwis Give India Tough Fight For Champions Trophy 2025 Title
While India secured a four-wicket win, it did not come easy for Rohit Sharma & co. as New Zealand kept giving a tough fight till the last ball of the 49th over.
After India’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) restricted New Zealand to a modest 251, openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong start with a 105-run stand. However, a flurry of middle-order dismissals, including Virat Kohli’s early departure for just one run, brought some pressure back on India. Shreyas Iyer’s crucial 48 and Axar Patel’s steady knock helped stabilize the innings. KL Rahul’s unbeaten 34 proved vital, and eventually, Ravindra Jadeja sealed the win with a boundary, triggering jubilant celebrations in the stadium.
