Perth Scorchers are heading towards an unwanted piece of history, as the record-time champions of Big Bash League are one defeat away from a humiliating feat.

The Ashton Turner-led side strike fear in the minds of opposition sides and fans whenever they step on the pitch, as the side holds more titles than many of the sides' total BBL Final appearances.

Perth Scorchers have always been known to be the true example of dominance and consistency, as the side have 5 championships in 13 seasons, and have never gone a season with less than 4 wins.

The worst finish for Gold Coast-based franchise in BBL history is 8th (last), which they achieved in BBL 08 season, but in that season, they managed to record 4 wins and 8 points.

With their humiliating 61-run defeat to Sydney Thunder on Monday, Perth Scorchers have not only lost their chance fo qualifying for the BBL Finals, but also stand one loss away from recording their worst season ever in Big Bash League.

Inspite of having a positive Net Run Rate (NRR), the Scorchers are bottom of the table with 3 wins and 6 defeats in 9 games, and their last league game is against fellow-strugglers Adelaide Strikers, who have two games in-hand.

Sydney Thunders Into BBL 14 Finals!

Sydney Thunders recorded a huge win over Perth Scorchers, and with their 61-run victory, they are now on top of the table with 11 points, and a game in hand.

The win also means that they have now officially qualified for the BBL 14 Finals, leaving one spot vacant, which is tightly-contested by Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat.

Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades currently have an outside chance, but by the looks of it, and also considering the current form, Melbourne Stars are all but through to the BBL 14 Finals.
