New Zealand Cricket have officially announced the appointment of Rob Walter as the new head coach of the Men's team on Friday, June 6, as the Blackcaps are looking to make key changes ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, World Test Championship 2025-27, and the ODI World Cup 2027.

Here's what Rob Walter said on his appointment:

"The Black Caps have been a successful and highly-regarded team on the world scene for some time now and it's a real privilege to be given the chance to add to that."

"It's an amazing opportunity to work with such a talented group of players and support staff through a period of time in which so many global events, as well as massive bilateral series, will be contested."

"I just can't wait to get started. It's exciting, it's challenging, and the opportunity is enormous for everyone."

Rob Walter joins the Blackcaps after a successful stint with the Proteas' Men's team, where he led them to a semi-final finish at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, and created history by inspiring South Africa to their first-ever T20 World Cup Final in 2024, where their winning run came to an end at the hands of India.

New Zealand will be availing the services of Rob Walter until the end of 2028.
