Pakistan’s struggle continued in the ongoing three-match ODI series against New Zealand. After a 73-run defeat in the first ODI, they faced further trouble in the second match as New Zealand's bowlers dismantled their batting lineup, reducing them to 72/7 while chasing a 293-run target. Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam’s poor form continued as he failed with bat yet again, managing only 1 run. Frustrated fans and cricket enthusiasts took to social media, voicing their disappointment and criticism over his continued struggles with the bat.

Pakistan, who opted to bowl first, conceded 292 runs as New Zealand’s Mitchell Hay top-scored with an unbeaten 99. Chasing 293, Pakistan’s top-order could not get going right from the word go as they were reduced to 10-3 inside six overs, losing the likes of Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique.

Babar Azam, coming in to bat at no. 3, fell cheaply to NZ’s Jacob Duffy, caught by Henry Nicholls at second slip. The delivery bounced extra and straightened off the deck, forcing Babar into a tentative poke. He edged it straight to Nicholls, departing for just 1 off 3 balls. Notably, Babar played well in the first NZ vs PAK ODI as he top-scored for the team with a 83-ball 78 runs knock.
