Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of ICC Champions Trophy 2025! Star Pacer's Replacement Announced

India have dealt a huge blow in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 ambitions, as Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the competition. Read below for more.

Indian bowling superstar Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to injury. The 2024 Cricketer of the Year suffered a lower-back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series, where he was named the Player of the Series, and will, therefore, not take part at the mega event.

BCCI officially confirmed his ruling out on Tuesday, and have named fellow pacer Harshit Rana as his replacement.

The apex board for cricket in India also confirmed Varun Chakravarthy's inclusion in the squad, replacing the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had recently made his much-awaited ODI debut in Nagpur against England.

Official Statement Of BCCI

"Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement."

"Team India have also named Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad. The spinner will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal who was initially named in the provisional squad."

Will Harshit Rana Walk Into Playing XI In Absence Of Jasprit Bumrah?

Harshit Rana made his ODI debut in Nagpur this month against England, and his figures were drew a mixed reaction, as the pacer did manage to scalp 3 wickets, but was pretty expensive by yielding runs at an economy of 7+.

Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh are the undisputed spearheads in the Playing XI, and if India opt to play both Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, it becomes utmost impossible to include Harshit Rana in the side, as the third pacer for India is their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja accompanies him as the second all-rounder in the side.

The top 3 of India is a no-brainer, with the captain and vice-captain (Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill) to open the innings, followed by legendary Virat Kohli at number 3.

Number 4 & 5 slots will see a tough competition between Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, as all three of them are a proven asset for the national side.
