Islamabad United Head Coach Appointed New White-Ball Coach Of Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board have announced the appointment of Mike Hesson as their new white-ball coach. The current Islamabad United head coach has replaced interim coach Aqib Javed at the helm, who has now been promoted to the role of Director of High Performance.

The offcial announcement of the decision has been made on Tuesday, May 13, and Mike Hesson will take over the reign from May 26 onwards, as Pakistan will be hosting Bangladesh for a 5-match T20I series.

Mike Hesson is a seasoned campaigner, as he has coached across various teams throughout the world.

The 50-year-old also served as the head coach of New Zealand from 2012-2018, where the side managed to reach the 2015 Cricket World Cup Final, only to be thrashed by Australia in a one-sided fixture.

As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Hesson has signed a two-year-deal with PCB for the role.

This is now Pakistan's 3rd appointment in 5 months for the role, as Gary Kirsten left the role merely 6 months into his contract.

Under Aqib Javed's tenure, Pakistan failed to win even a single game at ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
