BCCI Issues Warning To IPL Fraternity Amid Concerns Over Approach By Hyderabadi Businessman

The BCCI issued a verbal advisory to all IPL teams and other stakeholders to be aware of a certain businessman from Hyderabad who came up on the radar of the Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU). The businessman was seen allegedly making attempts to approach the players from different teams with proposals for dishonest practices in lieu of money.

According to sources, the BCCI has formally alerted all key stakeholders involved in the IPL — including franchise owners, players, coaching staff, support personnel, and even commentators — about the actions of a Hyderabadi businessman, who reportedly has a murky background. He is also allegedly connected to and makes deals for bookies.

Suspicious Activity Raises Red Flags

The ACSU believes the businessman is making calculated efforts to infiltrate the league by befriending players and other members in the cricketing fraternity. As per Money Control, the businessman poses as an ardent fan while attempting to gain trust through lavish gifts — including expensive jewellery — and exclusive invitations to private gatherings.

Several reports suggest he was seen mingling with IPL insiders at team hotels and attending matches, and initiating contact with various stakeholders. His tactics reportedly extend beyond direct interaction with players, targeting their families, friends, and even relatives of team owners and commentators — often reaching out via social media, especially to those residing abroad.
