He followed up a decent score in the opener with an unbeaten 82 in the second T20I, and a quick 57 in the third to help India seal the series.
India enjoy a clear advantage over New Zealand in T20Is, having won 15 of the 28 matches played between the two sides, compared to New Zealand’s 10 victories, with three games finishing in ties.
Abhishek Sharma, India's most explosive T20 batsman is not too far away from 1,500 international runs in the format.
He needs to score 233 runs to reach the mark, and while doing that in today's clash is very likely impossible, even with his aggressive intent, he does have the potential to reach 1,500 T20I runs by the end of this series.
Tilak Varma was expected to feature in the fourth and fifth IND vs NZ T20Is, currently dealing with an injury.
