IND U19 vs ENG U19 Highlights: Sooryavanshi’s 175 Shivers England: India Clinch Record 6th U19 WC Title

In an authoritative display at the Harare Sports Club, India defeated England by 100 runs to lift the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 trophy. After posting a massive total of 411/9, the Indian bowlers dismissed England for 311 in 40.2 overs to secure a record-extending sixth title.

The foundation for India’s success was laid early in the day by 14-year-old opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After India won the toss and chose to bat at the Harare Sports Club, Suryavanshi delivered a performance that redefined what is possible in a youth final.

He reached his century in just 55 balls and eventually finished with a massive 175 runs from only 80 deliveries. His innings featured 15 boundaries and 15 maximums, setting a new record for the highest individual score in a tournament final.

While Aaron George fell early, Suryavanshi found a reliable partner in captain Ayush Mhatre. The pair shared a 142-run stand that removed any early pressure. Mhatre contributed a steady 53, allowing the younger opener to play with freedom.

Useful middle-order contributions from Vedant Trivedi, Vihaan Malhotra, and Abhigyan Kundu ensured the momentum remained with the batting side. Kanishk Chouhan added a quick 37 late in the innings to help India post a monumental 411/9.

England’s Spirited but Fractured Chase

Chasing a target of 412, England faced an immediate hurdle when Joseph Moores fell early to RS Ambrish. Ben Dawkins and Ben Mayes tried to keep the run rate within reach, putting together a partnership that gave the English fans a glimmer of hope.

Dawkins played with intent, reaching a half-century and striking the ball cleanly against the seamers. However, once the spinners were introduced, the scoring slowed down significantly.

The middle order struggled to handle the accuracy of the Indian bowling unit. A sudden collapse saw England lose four wickets for very few runs, turning a competitive pursuit into a struggle for survival.

By the time the seventh wicket fell, the required run rate had climbed well into double figures, leaving the lower order with a nearly impossible task against a confident Indian side.

Falconer’s Century And Final Moments

Caleb Falconer provided the main resistance during the final stages of the game. He played a remarkable lone hand, reaching a century off just 60 balls and moving the total past 300. He found a stubborn partner in James Minto, and together they frustrated the Indian bowlers for several overs with a 94-run stand.

Their partnership provided the longest stretch of play where England looked comfortable, even as the scoreboard pressure grew.

The breakthrough finally came when RS Ambrish returned to the attack to dismiss Minto and Manny Lumsden. Although Falconer continued to strike the ball powerfully, reaching 115, the lack of partners proved decisive.

Kanishk Chouhan secured the final wicket when Falconer was caught in the deep, sparking celebrations among the Indian players. India’s victory serves as a testament to their consistency throughout the tournament, as they remained undefeated on their path to the trophy.
