England Women Unveil Exciting 14-Member Squad Ahead Of India Series

Sophie Ecclestone makes her much-awaited return, as England Women have announced their 14-member squad for T20I series against India Women. Read below.

England have announced a vibrant 14-player squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, with the high-profile return of star spinner Sophie Ecclestone headlining the selection.

Ecclestone, currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings and No. 4 in T20Is, rejoins England after her recent hiatus from international cricket. Her reintegration is seen as a major boost to England’s spin arsenal, adding youthful flair and experience to a lineup already riding high on form.

Former Injuries No Barrier for Lauren Filer’s Return

Pacer Lauren Filer, sidelined during the West Indies tour due to injury, is back in the mix. Her inclusion not only reinforces England’s seam options but also underlines head coach Charlotte Edwards’ commitment to rewarding strong domestic performances and fitness returns.

Wicket‑keeper-batter Amy Jones, climbing steadily up the ICC’s player rankings, earns her spot. Her selection strengthens England’s middle order and adds flexibility to the team’s batting options, providing valuable depth in a compact squad.

England’s confidence is sky-high following a commanding clean sweep in both the T20I and ODI series against the West Indies Women. With Nat Sciver‑Brunt assuming her first full tour as captain and Charlotte Edwards in her inaugural campaign as head coach, the series against India represents a critical test ahead of the home ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Squad List

  • Batters: Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt‑Hodge, Alice Capsey
  • All‑rounders: Charlie Dean, Nat Sciver‑Brunt (c), Paige Scholfield, Issy Wong
  • Spinners: Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith
  • Pacers: Lauren Bell, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones

"There was lots to be happy about in the West Indies series but equally lots of things we want to keep improving on… Five games against India in front of big crowds at great venues will serve us really well. This is a significant series for us with the countdown well and truly underway towards the home ICC Women’s T20 World Cup," said Charlotte Edwards, England Women head coach.

"It’s great to have Soph back, and we’re looking forward to having her back in the group. She has obvious qualities and she’ll be an asset to us," she added.
