ENG vs AFG, Champions Trophy 2025: Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first against England in the eighth match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match on February 26 (Wednesday) at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.  Both England and Afghanistan suffered defeats in their opening matches against Australia and South Africa, respectively, and now find themselves in a must-win situation. A loss in the ENG vs AFG clash will result in the team's elimination from the tournament.

Afghanistan were thoroughly outplayed by South Africa in their tournament opener, struggling in both batting and bowling. The lone bright spot for the team was Rahmat Shah’s resilient 90-run knock, which briefly kept them in the hunt during the chase.

It might get slower for sure. We were not bowling in the good areas in the last game. We are going with the same team.

Jos Buttler: The dew came in last game and it skidded on under lights. We would have batted first as well. It came on to the bat nicely. We just got one change. Carse is out because of an injury. Overton is in. Individual skills are very high. The expectations are very high as well.
