'Didn't Get So Angry Even When I Missed A Triple Ton': Virender Sehwag After Virat Kohli Denied Him Bowling Milestone

Sehwag said that he was more excited for some of the bowling milestones more than his batting records.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag narrated an interesting anecdote from his cricketing career in a recent episode of a podcast. While the world knows Sehwag for his fearless style of batting and attacking approach, he was a more than a handy off-spinning option as well with over 100 wickets in international cricket.

In fact, the swashbuckling former opener has got the wickets of some big guns during his playing days- the likes of Brian Lara and Kumar Sangakkara. And the former Delhi batter has now revealed that he was more excited about some of his bowling milestones than his batting records. He disclosed that he once got very angry when Virat Kohli's dropped catch denied him a major bowling milestone. The 44-year-old said that he got more angry than when he had missed a triple hundred.

"I don't know about magic but I did get some big batters out with my bowling. Ponting, Hayden, Hussey, Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Dilshan, Lara, some top batters. I once dismissed Gilchrist round his legs in Perth. The big ones did fall to me sometimes," he told  Ranveer Allahabadia on his YouTube Channel BeerBiceps.

"I actually felt quite sad when Virat Kohli once dropped a dolly off me at midwicket once. I would have probably got to some bowling milestone but he ended up putting it down. I got so angry, probably far more than when I missed a triple century. I told him come on man, you should have caught that," he added.

Overall, Sehwag finished with 40 wickets in 104 Test matches in addition to the 96 wickets in 251 ODIs. He might not have picked a wicket in T20Is but there too his contribution with ball is part of India's cricketing folklore as he was one of the bowlers who hit the wickets in the tied T20 World Cup 2007 match against Pakistan which was decided on a Bowl Out. Sehwag was the first one to hit the stumps which was followed by hits by Harbhajan Singh and Robin Uthappa as India beat Pakistan on a bowl out 3-0.
