David Miller’s Wife Pens Heartfelt Note After His Heroic Knock In NZ vs SA Semifinal

David Miller’s wife, Camilla Harris, shared an emotional message on Instagram after his record-breaking century in the Champions Trophy semifinal, which he dedicated to their newborn son.

South Africa’s long-standing quest for an ICC trophy continued as New Zealand defeated the Proteas by 50 runs in the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal held in Lahore on March 5 (Wednesday). While South Africa could not chase the daunting target that New Zealand set, star batter David Miller fought valiantly, remaining unbeaten with a century. Following his heroic effort, Miller’s wife, Camilla Harris, shared an emotional message on social media.

New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first in Lahore. Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson led the charge with stellar performances as Ravindra smashed 108 off 101 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six, while Williamson hit a classy 102 off 94 balls, featuring 10 boundaries and two sixes. Daryl Mitchell (49 off 37) and Glenn Phillips (49* off 27) provided crucial late contributions, guiding the Black Caps to a formidable 362/6 in 50 overs.  

In reply, South African skipper Temba Bavuma (56) and Rassie van der Dussen (69) struck fifties, but after van der Dussen’s dismissal, the middle order crumbled as the Proteas collapsed from 161/2 to 218/8. David Miller fought back with a breathtaking 100* off 67 balls—the fastest century in Champions Trophy history. He completed the milestone on the last ball of the matcha and dedicated his celebration to his newborn son, Benjamin. However, his lone effort wasn't enough, as South Africa fell short by 50 runs, finishing at 312/9.

Camilla, David Miller's wife, shared a video on her Instagram story capturing the moment he reached his century, along with a heartfelt message that said, “100 not out. Beyond proud of you my baby! Your celebration for our special Banji had me in tears. We love you, my champ.”

Notably, this is not the first time David Miller’s heroics went in vain in a crucial ICC knockout match. Back in the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal against Australia, he scored 101 runs off 116 balls to help South Africa reach 212 runs. However, the score proved to be insufficient as Australia won the contest by 3 wickets in the end.
