India are up against Australia in the India vs Australia third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at the Gabba in Brisbane. In a rain-affected match, Australia posted a total of 445 runs in their first innings, thanks to centuries from Steve Smith and Travis Head. However, frequent rain interruptions extended the first innings into Day 3 (December 16), taking over two days and nearly an hour and a half to complete.

Persistent rain on Day 1 rendered the outfield unplayable despite the ground's advanced drainage system. Australia closed the day at 28 without loss. However, Day 2 saw uninterrupted play, with over 88 overs bowled as Australia powered to a commanding position of 405/7 at stumps, driven by centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith. On Day 3, they added 40 more runs before being bowled out for 445. However, two rain interruptions had already disrupted the match, setting an ominous tone for the remainder of the day.

At 9:30 AM IST (2:00 PM Local Time), the chances of rain come down to 20%. However, the cloud cover goes up to 76%. The forecast remains similar for 10:30 AM IST (3:00 PM Local Time) with 20% chances of rain but the cloud cover goes up to 100% forecasting things to be murky during the last session of Day 3 in the IND vs AUS Test.

At 12:30 PM IST (6:00 PM Local Time), the chances of rain go back up to as high as 25% with cloud cover forecasted 100%.
