According to the Hindu calendar, the Paush Krishna Amavasya Tithi begins at 4:01 AM on December 30, 2024, and ends at 3:56 AM on December 31, 2024. As per the Udaya Tithi (the tithi that prevails at sunrise), Somvati Amavasya will be observed on December 30, 2024.

Vridhi Yoga: This auspicious yoga will be in effect from morning till 8:32 PM on December 30.
Moola Nakshatra: The Moola Nakshatra will last until 11:57 PM on the same day.

Significance Of Somvati Amavasya:

Somvati Amavasya holds immense religious importance for long life, family prosperity, and the resolution of ancestral issues. It is considered an ideal day for spiritual practices, donations, and rituals.

Remedies To Perform On Somvati Amavasya for Longevity:

  • Abhishek of Lord Shiva: Perform Abhishek (ritual bathing) of Lord Shiva’s Shivalinga with water, milk, curd, honey, and ghee. It is believed to grant blessings for longevity and well-being.
  • Observing a Fast: Fasting on this day is considered highly auspicious and rewarding.

Other Remedies For Somvati Amavasya:

  • Offer Donations: Donating on Amavasya is said to satisfy the ancestors and remove Pitra Dosha (ancestral defects).
  • Worship Peepal Tree: Offer water to the Peepal tree and light a diya (oil lamp). It is believed to please Lord Shani (Saturn) and reduce planetary afflictions.
  • Donation to Married Women: On this day, donate items related to suhaag (symbols of married life) to married women. Worshiping Goddess Parvati is believed to bring happiness and prosperity.
