North Indian Winter Recipes: Comforting Palak Paneer Recipe
Palak Paneer is a comforting, nutritious Indian dish made with fresh spinach and paneer, cooked in a spiced gravy. It's perfect for winter, offering warmth and a rich flavour.
Ingredients
- 250 Gram Spinach
- 200 Gram Paneer
- 1 Piece Onion (medium)
- 2 Piece Tomato (pureed)
- 2 Piece Green Chillli
- 1 Tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 0.5 Teaspoon Cumin Powder
- 2 Tablespoon Oil or Ghee
- 2 Tablespoon Cream
- Water
- Salt
- Lemon (optional)
Main Procedure
Blanching Spinach: Boil water in a pot and add in the spinach leaves. Cook it for 2-3 minutes. Drain the water and immediately transfer it to cold water. Blend the spinach into smooth puree.
Prepare Masala: Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add in cumin seeds and wait till they splutter. Add in chopped onions and saute them till they are golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree, and all the other masalas.
Cook Spinach: Add the pureed spinach to the masala and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add water to adjust the consistency.
Add Panner: Add in the paneer cubes. Simmer it for 5 minutes and allow the flavours to blend.
Add Cream: Stir in the cream for an added flavour. You can also squeeze lemon to adjust the flavours.
Serve: Sprinkle little garam masala and serve it hot. You can pair it with hot roti, rice, or naan.
