Ingredients
- 1 Piece Tamarind (small)
- 2 Cup Water
- 1 Piece Tomato
- 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 4 Piece Garlic Cloves
- 0.5 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Pinch Hing
- 1 Teaspoon Ghee
- 0.5 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1 Piece Dried Red Chilli
- Curry Leaves
- Coriander Leaves
- Salt
Main Procedure
Step 1
Soak the tamarind in warm water and squeeze out the pulp. Strain and keep the extract ready.
Step 2
Crush the pepper, cumin, and garlic together. Mix it with chopped tomato and tamarind extract in a saucepan.
Step 3
Pour in some water, turmeric, hing, curry leaves, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Step 4
Let it boil until the raw tamarind smell disappears and the rasam becomes aromatic.
Step 5
Take a small saucepan, heat ghee in it. Add in mustard seeds, red chilli, and curry leaves. Let all the ingredients splutter.
Step 6
Pour the tempering over rasam. Give it a stir and garnish it with chopped coriander.
Step 7
Pour rasam into shot glasses and serve it steaming hot.
