Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path showcased India’s high-altitude strength with camels, ponies and indigenous dogs.
Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path showcased India’s high-altitude strength with HIM Yodha, Bactrian camels, Zaniskari ponies, and black kites, reflecting military readiness and unique Himalayan heritage on the national stage.
Five indigenous dog breeds, Mudhol Hound, Rampur Hound, Chippiparai, Kombai, and Rajapalayam, appeared as trained attack and patrol dogs, highlighting India’s native canine strength and growing focus on self-reliance in defence forces.
These displays went beyond ceremony, reminding citizens that India’s geography, animals, and traditions remain deeply connected to national identity, resilience, and security in challenging terrains and changing climates worldwide today.
Animals like camels, ponies, and trained dogs still play vital roles in border patrol, transport, and rescue missions, proving traditional resources continue supporting modern defence operations across remote regions effectively.
Featuring rare Indian dog breeds on a national stage helped create awareness about their abilities and survival, encouraging conservation, responsible breeding, and renewed respect for homegrown working animals across generations.
Together, the parade elements sent a quiet message: progress does not erase tradition. India can modernise while honouring its land, creatures, and indigenous strengths that have protected it for centuries.
