Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal marked Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary at Raigad Fort on Wednesday.

Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram to share pictures from his visit to Raigad Fort.

Vicky captioned the post, "Today on the occasion of #ChhatrapatiShivajiJayanti, I had the good fortune of paying my respects at #RaigadFort. It was my first time here and there couldn’t have been a better time to come and take blessings from Maharaj."

Kaushal, who is currently in the spotlight for his role as Chhatrapati Shivaji’s son, Sambhaji Maharaj, in the upcoming Hindi film Chhaava, was accompanied by Maharashtra’s Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare during the visit.

The fort, located in Raigad district, once served as the capital of the Maratha empire.

Speaking to reporters, Kaushal expressed his emotions about visiting the historic location for the first time.

"It was an honour for me to portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the film. Coming here to Raigad Fort has been a divine feeling," he shared.

The actor also spoke about the visionary leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, emphasizing his role as a ruler who prioritised the welfare of his people.

"What we now call a 'government by the people, for the people'—it all began with Shivaji Maharaj," Kaushal remarked.

The actor had previously announced his intention to visit Raigad Fort on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti.
