Iran has suspended talks with the United States over Israeli strikes on Lebanon, according to Iranian media reports, days after warning that any ceasefire agreement with Washington would apply across all regional fronts, including Lebanon. Iran has warned that it will retaliate by targeting northern Israel if Israeli forces strike Beirut, escalating tensions amid the ongoing conflict involving Hezbollah and Lebanon. Tehran said any attack on the Lebanese capital would trigger a direct response, signalling the risk of a wider regional confrontation.

Trump Claims Israel-Hezbollah De-escalation

US President Donald Trump said he held a productive call with Benjamin Netanyahu and that Israel would not send troops into Beirut, with forces already en route having been turned back. Trump also claimed that, through intermediaries, he spoke with representatives of Hezbollah, who agreed to stop all shooting, adding that both sides had committed to refraining from attacks against each other.

Trump added that negotiations with Iran were moving forward quickly, with talks continuing at a rapid pace.

Iran Issues Warning

Iran's Abbas Araghchi stressed that there was "no ambiguity" regarding the scope of the truce and warned that any breach on one front would be regarded as a violation across all fronts. The minister further stated that the United States and Israel would bear responsibility for any consequences arising from a breach of the ceasefire.
