Modi In Tokyo: PM Receives Hearty Welcome From Indian Diaspora, Lauds Japanese Kid Speaking Hindi | WATCH

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a hearty welcome from the Indian diaspora to gather at the hotel where he will be staying during his two-day visit to Tokyo for the Quad leaders' summit.

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Tokyo for his two-day visit on Monday, received a hearty welcome from the Indian diaspora at the Hotel New Otani where he’ll be staying during his trip. Many children were also present with their parents waving their hands at the PM or holding placards with the word “Welcome” written on them. He will be attending the Quad summit in Japan which is aimed at to further bolstering cooperation among the member nations of the influential grouping and discussing developments in the strategic Indo-Pacific region.
 
People raised slogans of "Har Har Modi", "Modi Modi", "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai" at the hotel as people from the Indian diaspora cheered and waved their flags seeing the Prime Minister.

A woman present at the hotel to welcome the Prime Minister said, "We are super happy to welcome PM Modi to Japan. His energy is infectious...He has made us proud everywhere."

PM Modi interacts with children in Tokyo

While interacting with children he was impressed by a Japanese child in particular who spoke fluent Hindi. PM Modi was quoted by ANI as saying, "Waah! Where did you learn Hindi from?... You know it pretty well?"

Ritsuki Kobayashi said that he is very happy and said, "He (PM Modi) read my message, which I wrote on paper and this is the reason that I am very happy and even I got his signature."

After landing in Tokyo, the Prime Minister tweeted, "Landed in Tokyo. Will be taking part in various programmes during this visit including the Quad Summit, meeting fellow Quad leaders, interacting with Japanese business leaders and the vibrant Indian diaspora."

Modi earlier this morning arrived in Tokyo, he will be participating in the Quad summit on May 24 at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The Summit in Tokyo is the fourth interaction of Quad Leaders since their first virtual meeting in March 2021, in-person Summit in Washington D.C. in September 2021 and virtual meeting in March 2022.

PM Modi on Sunday said that during the Quad summit, leaders will once again have the opportunity to discuss various initiatives and issues of mutual interest.
