Car Rams Into Liverpool FC's Victory Parade, Children Among 47 Injured: VIDEO

A 53-year-old white British man has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident after a car crashed into the Liverpool FC's victory parade.

Dozens of football fans were injured including four children after a man plowed a car into Liverpool fans who were participating in the football club's Premier League trophy parade on Monday.

A 53-year-old white British man has been arrested from the Liverpool area, Merseyside police said in a statement, reported by CNN. The cops urged people not to speculate on the circumstances of the incident.

At least 47 people were injured in the crash, including two critically. Four children were also among those hurt, with one child being seriously injured, reported The Guardian.

Fire crews at the spot said they removed three adults and a child who were trapped under a vehicle. 27 people were taken to the hospital, and 20 were treated at the scene, according to the North West ambulance service.

No Terror Angle

Merseyside Police’s Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said that the incident was not being treated as terrorism. The local police said they reported the incident after 6 pm local time "following reports a car has been in collision with a number of pedestrians" in the city centre.

The incident took place as the city was filled with football fans attending an open-top bus parade to celebrate Liverpool Football Club's 20th top-flight league title.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer dubbed the scenes at Liverpool as "appalling" and sent his thoughts for all those injured or affected in a post on X.

He thanked the police and emergency services for their "swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident."

"I’m being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate," he said in the post.
