Will US Join Israel In War With Iran? Trump Calls Emergency Meeting At White House

President Trump convened an emergency meeting to discuss potentially joining Israel in striking Iranian nuclear sites, including the Fordo enrichment facility.

Israel Iran War: US President Donald Trump held an emergency meeting to decide whether Washington should join Israel in war with Iran.

The meeting, held in the situation room at the White House lasting an hour and twenty minutes, was held to discuss whether the US should join Israel to strike Iranian nuclear sites, reported CBS News.

In the meeting of the US National Security Council, Trump and his advisors discussed the possibility of striking Iran's nuclear sites. The uranium enrichment site at Fordo which is deep underground could be one of the potential targets, as per the report.

However, the president's advisors are still divided about how to proceed with the issue.

The development comes as Trump, in a flurry of social media posts, demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender".

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, responded with a series of social media messages of his own last night - insisting his country would "never compromise with Zionists."

US Forces Pull Out Bases In Syria

Meanwhile, the US forces have pulled out two more bases in northeastern Syria, reported Reuters, accelerating a troop drawdown and allowing a resurgence of Islamic state, according to the commander of US-backed Syrian Kurdish forces.

Reuters reporters who visited the two bases described them to be "mostly deserted, both guarded by small contingents of the Syrian Democratic Forces - the Kurdish-led military group that Washington has backed in the fight against Islamic State for a decade."

A Kurdish politician who lives on one of the bases also confirmed the development saying there were no longer US troops there.

The Pentagon has declined to comment, as per the report.

In Jerusalem, the US has closed its embassy until Friday, as speculation mounts about possible American intervention, reported AFP.

The embassy said in a statement that there was no current announcement about helping Americans leave the "crisis area".
