Swedish Gripen fighter jets escorted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft as it entered Swedish airspace on Sunday during the next leg of his four-nation Europe tour. PM Modi arrived in Gothenburg for a two-day visit at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, with talks expected to focus on trade, defence, green transition and emerging technologies. The visit comes shortly after PM concluded his trip to the Netherlands, where India signed 17 agreements covering sectors such as defence, semiconductors, critical minerals and sustainability amid growing global economic and geopolitical concerns.

Netherlands Visit Ends

Before arriving in Sweden, PM Modi wrapped up a two-day visit to the Netherlands where he held bilateral talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The two leaders discussed cooperation in several strategic sectors and voiced concern over the situation in West Asia and its impact on global energy supplies and trade networks.

India and the Netherlands signed 17 agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in defence, innovation, water management, semiconductors, mobility and climate resilience.

Before departing, PM Modi toured the iconic Afsluitdijk Dam alongside Jetten as both countries explored collaboration in water management and climate-resilient infrastructure.
