Ninth IIMCA Awards: Sarvapriya Sangwan Is Journalist Of The Year, ABP News' Ajatika Singh Among Winners
The 9th IIMCA Awards celebrated achievements in journalism, public relations, and media.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Alumni Association hosted its annual Connections Meet, where the winners of the ninth IMCA Awards were announced. The event, held in Delhi, celebrated excellence in journalism, public relations, and media, recognising distinguished professionals and alumni for their contributions to the industry.
The highlight of the evening was the Alumni of the Year Award, presented to Anshu Gupta, the founder of Goonj, and renowned writer-journalist Neelesh Misra, for their remarkable impact in their respective fields.
The coveted Journalist of the Year Award was won by BBC Hindi's Sarvapriya Sangwan, who received a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh. ABP News' Ajatika Singh was declared Reporter of the Year (Broadcasting).
Additionally, around 80 alumni from the Silver Jubilee batch, who graduated from IIMC 25 years ago, were felicitated on the occasion in recognition of their longstanding contributions to the media industry.
Under the IIMCA Committee Awards, five distinguished professionals were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. They are Prof. Ashok Ogra (Delhi), Jahnavi Phookan (Guwahati), Sujata Sabnis (Pune), Prof. Shambhunath Singh (Tezpur), and Medin Prasad Rai (Delhi). The Public Service Award was conferred upon Jamshedpur SSP Kishore Kaushal and Gaya-based social worker Aditya Vardhan for their exceptional service to society. Both are former students of IIMC.
Recognising Excellence In Journalism And Media
Various professionals were honoured across multiple categories, with cash prizes ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh. Some of the notable winners included:
- Agriculture Reporter of the Year: Pallav Jain
- Reporter of the Year (Publishing): Sandeep Rajwade
- Producer of the Year: Harshita Rathore
- Indian Language Reporter of the Year (Publishing): R. Samban
- Indian Language Reporter of the Year (Broadcasting): Anuj Kumar Das
- Ad Person of the Year: Pankaj Bora
- PR Person of the Year: Ashish Shukla
- Avian WE was awarded the PR Agency of the Year, while Kaizzen was named Digital Agency of the Year.
Recognising efforts in fostering alumni engagement, the Connecting Alumni Award was presented to Ketan Tanna (Maharashtra), Sudhanshu Patro (Odisha), and Manindra Mishra (Uttar Pradesh). Meanwhile, the IMCA Gujarat Chapter received the Connecting Chapter Award.
Several individuals were honoured with the Pillars of IMCA Award for their dedication to the alumni network — including Santosh Kumar Valmiki (UP), Kalyan Ranjan and Nitin Pradhan (Delhi), Alice Guram (Punjab), Braj Kishore (Maharashtra), Byomkesh Biswal (Odisha), and Krishna Pofle (Maharashtra).
