Social‑media users have shared videos alleging that a drone struck the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium today. The clip, which has gone viral, claims the stadium, set to host the Pakistan Super League (PSL) X fixture between Peshawar and Karachi at 8 pm local time, was hit by an aerial device. According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) convened an urgent meeting to decide whether tonight’s match should proceed or be postponed.

Earlier today, Pakistan attempted to strike 15 military targets in India, prompting India to destroy air‑defence radar systems near Lahore. Both sides have been exchanging drone and missile strikes in recent days.

According to India’s Ministry of Defence, on the night of May 7-8, following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan launched drones and missiles at military installations across northern and western India. Targeted sites included Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj. All threats were successfully blocked and neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter‑UAS grid and air‑defence systems.

Indian Retaliation

In the early hours of 9 May, the Indian Armed Forces struck back, targeting Pakistani air‑defence radars and associated systems at multiple locations. Reports confirm that an air‑defence installation close to Lahore was knocked out.

India has reiterated its commitment to a policy of measured response and non‑escalation, provided Pakistan reciprocates. Both nations continue to monitor the situation closely amid heightened tensions.
