Vadra, Hooda land deal scam: Haryana govt may transfer case to CBI

Besides, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to look into the documents related to the land deals for which an FIR was registered against Vadra and Hooda.

New Delhi: More trouble could be stored in for Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law Robert Vadra in the Gurgaon land scam case. In the latest development, the case could be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Haryana government will seek seek legal and other advices in the case after which it could transfer the case to the investigative agency. Besides, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to look into the documents related to the land deals for which an FIR was registered against Vadra and Hooda. Earlier yesterday, the Haryana Police said that they have sought permission from the state government to further probe the corruption case registered against Vadra, Hooda and realtors including DLF. Watch video - The police on Saturday booked Vadra, Hooda, DLF and Gurugram-based Onkareshwar properties for their alleged involvement in a land scam worth Rs 5,000 crore in Gurugram in 2008. A case was registered on charges of cheating, hatching conspiracy and forgery. The case was registered on the complaint of Surender Sharma, a resident of Rathiwas village near Tauru, alleging that a company belonging to Vadra's Skylight Hospitality cheated people and the state. Assistant Commissioner of Police Shamsher Singh on Tuesday told reporters: "We registered the case immediately as soon as we received the complaint (On September 1). We have written to Haryana Director General Police B.S. Sandhu seeking approval of relevant authority from the state government to further begin investigation." (With inputs from IANS)
