As part of Telangana cabinet expansion, sources indicate that four new ministerial positions will be filled with an official announcement likely on the day of Ugadi.

The long-anticipated Telangana cabinet expansion is expected to take place on March 30, coinciding with Ugadi, the Telugu New Year festival. Sources indicate that four new ministerial positions will be filled with an official announcement likely on the day of the festival. Additionally, key legislative posts, including the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Chief Whip, are expected to be finalized.

The decision follows a high-level meeting in Delhi on Monday, where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud held discussions with the Congress high command. The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, was attended by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal. The Congress leadership assessed the credentials of potential candidates before approving the expansion.
For months, senior Telangana leaders have urged the party leadership to expedite the cabinet expansion process. With six vacancies currently in the state cabinet, the move is expected to strengthen governance and accommodate key party leaders in ministerial roles.
The upcoming expansion is seen as a significant political step, aligning with the state's efforts to bolster its administrative framework under the Congress government.
Meanwhile, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and his 11 Cabinet colleagues were sworn in on December 7, 2023 after securing a landslide victory in the Assembly Elections held that year.
Later, it was reported that the state could have up to 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister. The party leadership was reportedly considering keeping one or two Cabinet positions vacant.
Following this, several aspirants awaited the Cabinet expansion for over a year. Despite strong speculation about an expansion following last year’s Lok Sabha elections and multiple visits by the Chief Minister to New Delhi, the leadership issue remained unresolved.
