Sonia Gandhi's Health Stable Now, Under Close Medical Watch

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi hospitalized in Delhi for a stomach issue; doctors confirm her condition is stable and under close watch. Earlier, she underwent a routine check-up in Shimla.

Senior Congress leader and Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Sunday night, June 15, following a stomach-related concern. According to an official statement from the hospital, her condition is currently stable and she is under close observation.

Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, confirmed the development:
“Smt. Sonia Gandhi was admitted at 9:00 PM under the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology for a stomach-related issue. She is presently stable, and our team of doctors is carefully monitoring her condition.”

The 78-year-old political veteran, who continues to play a pivotal role in the Congress party, had earlier sought medical consultation in Himachal Pradesh. On June 7, she was taken to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla for a routine health check-up after reportedly experiencing minor discomfort.

Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, had clarified at the time that her visit to IGMC was precautionary.
“She came in for a routine check-up due to some minor issues. Doctors evaluated her condition and found everything to be normal,” he said.

Echoing this reassurance, Dr. Aman Chauhan, Deputy Medical Superintendent at IGMC, added, “Her blood pressure was slightly elevated, but there was nothing alarming. Only basic investigations were conducted, and no further tests or special treatment were necessary.”

Sonia Gandhi’s recent hospital visits have drawn public attention, given her prominent role in Indian politics over the decades. As concerns circulate, the medical updates from both Delhi and Shimla continue to indicate there is no cause for alarm.
