Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian on the ISS as part of the Axiom-4 mission. Pictures show him observing Earth from the Cupola Module.
A set of pictures was released by the government of India on Sunday showing Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla observing the earth from the International Space Station. Shukla became the first Indian to be on the station.
According to the pictures shared online, the Indian astronaut, Shukla, could be seen seated on the edge of the 7-windowed Cupola Module on the ISS with the Earth visible in the background.

Ever since the crew arrived, they have been fully dedicated towards the scientific research, demonstrations, and global outreach.
Earlier, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked about his first thoughts upon seeing the space, Shukla shared a profound realisation: "From space, you don't see any borders. The Earth looks united." He had also emphasised the vastness of India, which appears much larger from orbit than on a map.
On Tuesday, Shukla is set to interact with school students at ISRO's North East Space Application Centre (NESAC) from his orbital post on the International Space Station via ham radio. The interaction is planned via a telebridge set up by NESAC in Shillong, said the Amateur Radio on International Space Station (ARISS), which facilitates interaction of school students with astronauts on the orbital laboratory.
Shukla is on a 14-day scientific expedition on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission, along with three other astronauts.
On Friday, Shukla interacted with students at the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru. Ham radio enthusiasts tuned in to the designated frequency to listen in to the conversation.
Ham radio, also known as amateur radio, is a non-commercial radio communication service operated by licensed enthusiasts and is considered a reliable mode of communication during disasters, when conventional modes of communication are not available.
