In December last year, Mukherjea wrote a letter to the CBI claiming that a woman prisoner she met in the Byculla jail of Mumbai, told her that she met Sheena Bora in Kashmir.
Sheena Bora Murder Case
Indrani Mukherjea was arrested in 2015 for allegations of murder of her daughter Sheena Bora from her first marriage in 2012. Three months after her arrest, her now ex-husband Peter Mukherjea was also arrested for aiding her. Indrani was upset with Bora over her relationship with Peter Mukherjea's son Rahul Mukherjea from an earlier marriage, said the CBI which took over the case in late 2015.
Earlier the case was being investigated by Mumbai police. The CBI also said that Mukherjea and Bora had a financial dispute as well which led to the murder. After Bora died, Mukherjea allegedly told everyone that she left for the US.
Peter Mukherjea and Sanjeev Khanna are the co-accused in the case. Peter Mukherjea was granted bail last year. The trial started in 2017 in which nearly 60 witnesses have recorded their statements so far.
