Five-Time Delhi MLA Jai Kishan Dies Of Heart Attack
Jai Kishan was a senior Congress leader who was a prominent Dalit face of the party's Delhi unit. He secured five consecutive wins from the Sultanpur Majra seat in the Delhi Assembly polls.

Senior Congress leader Jai Kishan passed away late Wednesday night (April 16) after suffering a heart attack.
The five-time MLA was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack at his residence in Sultanpuri, Delhi at around 12:30 AM. He was declared dead on arrival by the doctors at the hospital.
Who Was Congress Leader Jaikishan?
A prominent Dalit face of the Congress in Delhi, Jai Kishan had been contesting elections from the Sultanpur Majra constituency in the capital from 1993 to 2025. He won the Delhi Assembly elections from Sultanpur Majra in 1993, 2003, 2008, and 2013, serving as an MLA from the seat four times.

In the 1998 Assembly elections, Jai Kishan, fielded his wife, Sushila Devi, in his place due to personal reasons. She too won in his stead, marking a fifth consecutive victory for the family from the same constituency. Jaikishan has since secured five consecutive wins from the Sultanpur Majra seat, either directly or through his wife.
He held several key positions within the Congress Party throughout his political career. These included the position of Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Over the years, he came to be regarded as one of the senior-most and influential leaders in Congress's Delhi unit.
The news of his demise was shared by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav on social media platform X. "The demise of Jaikishan, five-time MLA from Sultanpuri, former AICC Secretary, and a senior member of the Congress family, is extremely saddening. May God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the grieving family to bear this loss," his post read.
The leader's last rites will be performed today at 1:00 PM at the crematorium located in Y Block, Mangolpuri in Delhi.
